Baby first time flying with airplane

On 23rd March 2010 was the big day for Timmy as we headed to the Senai Airport to take our flight back to Kuala Lumpur. It's always difficult to travel with kids under 2 years in the airplane. They don't know yet how to react when you get the pressure in the ears.

The best tips when you fly the first time with your baby

• Take a pacifier with you and put it in the mouth of your baby when the airplane starts to take off (and lands) and look that your baby is sucking it until you don't feel anymore pressure in your own ears
• Give your baby something to eat, so that it chews during the take off and landing
• Take a bottle with fluids (water, fruit juice, milk) and feed your baby, so that it always sucks the fluids during the time when the airplane takes off or lands

We tried both methods and only the last one worked for some minutes. After we landed in Kuala Lumpur, Timmy hit with his hands on his heads. This meant for us that it wasn't completely successful and he might have been dizzy or got a headache. For luck he didn't have any other severe symptoms because after one day with a lot of sleeping he felt already better and didn't show anymore signs of hitting with his hands on his head.

Yeah....finally we're on the plane, and Timmy was playful and curious about the beauty sitting behind us ;-)

Autism risk: Age of mother & father could make a difference

I guess everyone knows about the risks of a late-in-life pregnancy. Now with a new study published it gets more and more into a direction that

1. the age of mother and father and
   
2. even a certain age difference between mother and father

can lead to risk not only the Down-Syndrome in a newborn child but also an autistic child in the future.

The older a mother gives birth to a baby, the more likely it will develop autistic characters. A 40 year old mother has a 50% greater chance of having an autistic child than a mother in the age of 25 - 29 years.

The risk of fathers which are older than 40 years is only significant higher if the mother is younger than 30 years. The risk is twice as likely that the kid will develop autism signs than if the father would be 25 - 29 years young.

Never stop crawling anymore ;-)

Lately, Timmy becomes very active since he knows how to crawl forward and stand up (need support). Whenever he is awake, he will start crawling everywhere that he thinks he has the support to stand up. We really have to keep an eye on him. We are thinking to buy the carpet (those foam puzzles for kids), so that Timmy can crawl on the floor without hurting himself and explore more things.

Well...when he is so active, he never wants to stay quiet to be fed the solid food. :-( I always have to think of so many ideas to make him stop crawling and open his mouth. Singing to him, making different strange sounds and expressions, this might stop him and makes him curious, smiling or laughing. But this still can't stop his curiosity to explore more things, i need more ideas to make him finish the food. *LOL*

Turning on the music is also a good choice to hold him back from crawling around. Just now i turned on the Christmas baby music for him. It's so fun to see his reactions. He starts looking around and wants to find the source where the music is coming from.
I think he did not know it's from the laptop ;-) During this time, he was quiet and it's time for me to continue feeding ;-) , surprisingly, he finished the rice cereal XD. That's great because he seldom finished the rice cereal. I will see next time if this works again or not.
